Bible time lamps
I was talking with my Pastor's wife on what we call a "workday". We have a rather unique church, first off no one take a salary there. Secondly, we don't solicit for donations. All of our "need's" are met through tithing. By the grace of God a small windfall of money came to the church and we were able to create a small library out of some wasted space and book donations. It was decided to name the library the Lantern. We ( the pastors wife and I ) thought it would be fitting to try and find a lantern from the era Jesus did his ministry.
After doing some research on the internet I found replica's of lamps or lantern's from that era. They were similar to that of those you would see in Alladins Lamp. They have wick's and an oil you burn which reminded me of this scripture. Matthew 25: 1-13 "The Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgin's" how wise virgins took extra lamp oil and when they arose trimmed their lamps. By seeing a picture of the lamps gave me a better understanding of how thing's work back in those days. Imagine going out to wait/look for someone with a rather small flame. That would be different.
